Stern is a converted Jew and a graduate from Fuller Theological. I am not into all the Jewish/Christian terminology and their seeming emphasis on "Torah" BUT the Jewish New Testament Commentary [at least] can play a valuable role in one's biblical studies. There are some inaccuracies so beware. For example, Paul's letter to Galatians is given this intro: The letter from Yeshua's Emissary Sha'ul (Paul) to the Messianic Community in Galatia. Well, O.K. but us Gentiles would simply say (an correctly so) - The letter from the Apostle Paul to the Church in Galatia. Still there are many insights into Jewish terminology and 1st century life and culture. Under 30 including S & H from Amazon - well worth the money.
